BELLE AND SEBASTIAN REBELLIOUS JUKEBOX PODCAST

In
1997, I interviewed Belle And Sebastian for a Rebellious Jukebox feature for Melody Maker. Each band member selected some of their favourite songs and said a few words about their choices. As a warm up to our Belle And Sebastian disco this Saturday (July 18th), I thought it would be fun to revisit the interview and make a podcast of the band's selections. To put the interview in context, "If You're Feeling Sinister" had been released the year before, "Dog On Wheels", :"Lazy Line Painter Jane" and "3...6...9 Seconds Of Light" had come out that year, and they were working on "The Boy With The Arab Strap", which would be released the following September.

A scan of the original feature is just below the podcast, and there's more info about the B&S disco here

As Belle & Sebastian are playing Somerset House on July 18th, we thought it would be a good idea to move HDIF to the Saturday for July and throw a big dance party after the gig. We'll be playing our usual mixture of indiepop and northern soul, with plenty of B&S thrown in for good measure.
